Dr. Martinez was born and raised in Pinar Del Rio, Cuba. He earned his medical degree from the Instituto Superior de Ciencias Medicas de la Habana (Havana, Cuba) and then completed a Family Medicine residency program there in 2009. He worked for several years as a physician in Cuba and Venezuela serving in medical missions.
In 2011, Dr. Martinez left Cuba for America where he completed the prerequisites required to become a licensed physician in the United States. He completed his second residency (his first in the United States) at the Rio Bravo Family Medicine Residency Program in Bakersfield, California where he served underprivileged patients in his community.
Following residency, Dr. Martinez accepted a position with Cornerstone Medical Care in the greater Tampa, Florida area. Dr. Martinez embodies Cornerstone’s vision of making a difference in the lives of patients, their families and caregivers, and the team by delivering confidence and compassion while providing exceptional, comprehensive, and personalized healthcare. He prides himself on being adept at following current medical guidelines with an emphasis on prevention and the highest standards of care. He believes that being a great doctor requires a person with empathy and humility, who is an active listener, is open to learning, is a team player, and who adheres to the highest standards of professional ethics.
He lives in the Tampa Bay area with his wife and son. He likes fishing, camping, biking, reading, swimming and spending quality time with family and friends.
Dr. Martinez is board certified by the American Academy of Family Physicians. He speaks English and is a native Spanish speaker and is accepting new patients at our Sun City Center office.
