Heather J. Cappello, MD, CHCQM, DABOM has close to 20 years of experience as medical doctor and is board certified in Family Medicine, Geriatric Medicine, Obesity Medicine, and Health Care Quality and Management
Originally from Long Island, New York, she completed medical school at the Trinity College of Dublin in 2004 and then completed her residency at Overlook Family Practice in New Jersey in 2007 where she shared the Most Valuable Resident aware with peers. She then completed a fellowship in Geriatric Medicine at the University of Miami where she was fellow of the year in both clinical and evidence-based medicine.
Dr. Cappello has worked in many different settings with a focus on geriatric medicine throughout her career in New York and Florida. She has taught the Geriatric Clerkship at the Florida State University College of Medicine and remains committed to educating future medical professionals. She spent a portion of her career in case management and utilization management for a large health system as a Physician Advisor.
Dr. Cappello has a deep affinity for the senior population viewing them as the history of medicine. She is board certified by the American Board of Family Physicians, with Geriatric Medicine as an added Qualification, the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians, and the American Board of Obesity Medicine.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her daughter travelling and exploring the world. She speaks fluent Italian.
